The Serpent Guardians of the Hidden Treasure

Deep in a remote village, whispers had long carried tales of a hidden treasure guarded by serpents. Few dared to venture near the old earth mound where shimmering jewelry was said to lie buried beneath the soil.

One day, as rains washed away the upper layers of dirt, the earth revealed its secret. Golden bangles, pearl strands, and silk-threaded ornaments glittered in the dim sunlight. But it was not the treasure alone that emerged—the guardians stirred.

From the hollow, a cobra rose tall, hood flared, its black eyes fixed on any who dared approach. Twined among the jewels slithered other serpents—one green and swift, another patterned like living embroidery. Their bodies wove between the ornaments as if the gold and gems were part of them, inseparable.

The villagers who gathered at a distance were struck by both fear and awe. Some whispered that these were no ordinary snakes, but spirits—protectors bound to the treasure by ancient oaths. Others believed the jewels belonged to a forgotten queen, hidden during a time of war, with her loyal guardians cursed to watch over them for eternity.

No one stepped forward to claim the gold. The sight of the cobra, poised like a sentinel of the underworld, made hearts race. And as the evening shadows grew, the snakes coiled tighter around the treasure, reclaiming it. Slowly, they retreated back into the earth, pulling some of the ornaments into the dark hollow with them.

By nightfall, the mound was silent again—save for the faint gleam of a single golden bangle left in the dirt. It was as if the serpents had left behind a reminder: not all treasures are meant to be taken, and some are better left to legends.
