When Henry Kim noticed one of his beloved goldfish struggling to stay upright, he refused to simply accept that there was nothing he could do.
Kim keeps around 20 goldfish in three tanks at his home and is deeply passionate about their well-being. So when some of his fish began floating upside down, he became concerned that something was seriously wrong.
The problem can be related to the swim bladder, an organ that helps fish maintain their balance and stay upright in the water. When it stops functioning properly, affected fish can struggle to swim normally and may float helplessly toward the surface or sink to the bottom of the tank.
Rather than giving up on his sick fish, Kim started searching for a solution.
After researching the problem online, he came up with an unusual invention: a tiny device he calls a “wheelchair” for fish.
The miniature contraption is designed to help a sick goldfish remain upright and afloat, allowing it to move through the water despite its swimming difficulties.
It may look simple, but for Kim, the little device represents something much bigger — his determination to give his pets a chance to keep living comfortably.
His story is a touching reminder that compassion isn’t limited by size or species. To some people, a goldfish might seem like just a small pet. To Henry Kim, every fish in his tanks is a life worth fighting for.
