The Windy City is buzzing after a story straight out of a Hollywood movie: Chicago Cubs star Ian Happ has allegedly been involved in a heart-stopping late-night rescue that could rival any Wrigley Field walk-off moment.
Witnesses say the shocking event happened just after midnight at a small bar on the North Side, where Happ had stopped by to unwind after a game. Out of nowhere, the door opened — and a tiny girl in Disney princess pajamas stepped inside.
Instead of running to police, neighbors, or anyone else, she walked straight to Happ. Tear-streaked and trembling, she tugged at his sleeve. The entire bar went dead silent as she spoke:
“The bad man locked Mommy in the basement… and Mommy said if I needed real help, I should find Ian Happ.”
Happ reportedly froze for a second, then immediately dropped to one knee so he could look the girl in the eye. His tall frame dwarfed her as the bar held its breath.
“What’s your name, kiddo?” Happ asked softly.
“Emma,” she whispered, before adding the line that made everyone’s jaw drop:
“The bad man is a policeman.”
According to onlookers, the room went from shocked silence to immediate action. Happ allegedly signaled to a few close friends, grabbed his phone, and called in a small trusted group — not the police — to make sure the girl’s mother could be rescued without the danger of a cover-up.
The Cubs slugger, known for his calm demeanor at the plate, reportedly led the group to the address Emma gave. Sources say they found the woman unconscious but alive, freed her, and got her medical attention.
Social media is already blowing up with the story, with fans calling Ian Happ a “real-life superhero”:
