In July 2023, Fhandee was rescued in a dire condition: she was frail, blind, and deaf and struggling to perform even basic daily tasks. Her world was plunged into complete darkness and silence, forcing Fhandee to confront constant, overwhelming fear.
Upon her arrival at the Elephant Nature Park Sanctuary, Fhandee was initially fearful and suspicious of her new surroundings, making adaptation difficult. The poor elephant often experienced numerous falls and had great trouble regaining her balance, causing significant concern among her caregivers about her very survival. Every step Fhandee took was a taxing challenge, a silent fight against her terrible misfortune.
Light Emerge from Compassion
Fortunately, compassion found Fhandee amidst her loneliness and desperation. Fhandee’s incredible resilience, fuelled by her robust appetite, motivated her to fight fiercely to regain her strength.
The dedicated veterinarians and mahouts at the sanctuary provided exceptional and unwavering support, including high-quality soft food daily. Their tireless care and love led to a remarkable transformation in her condition.

From an animal nearing collapse due to being blind, deaf, and malnourished, Fhandee is gradually standing strong, igniting hope for a new life free from absolute darkness and paralyzing fear.
