The Chiefs head coach weighs in on the star tight end’s relationship with the pop superstar as they head into their third NFL season together.

Andy Reid already has a few stories up his sleeve — but some are staying on the sidelines.

During his appearance on 96.5 The Fan with Fescoe and Dusty on Thursday, Aug. 7, the Kansas City Chiefs head coach was asked what story about All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce he’d share if Kelce ever tied the knot with girlfriend Taylor Swift.

“Well, there are a few I can’t tell,” Reid replied with a laugh.

Naturally, the hosts pressed for more. Reid eventually opened up about his star player — but kept it wholesome.

“There are a lot of great stories,” the Chiefs’ head coach said of the 35-year-old Kelce. “He’s done so many good things, especially off the field, in ways people don’t always see — just helping people out. He’s got a big heart, and that’s what I appreciate the most.”

Reid has actually known Swift longer than Kelce has. Asked if he had a favorite song by the 14-time Grammy winner, he admitted, fittingly, “You know what, I do have the Red album.”

The longtime coach — who previously led the Philadelphia Eagles — recalled crossing paths with Swift years ago through her family. “My family has been a big fan of hers, and we know her father and mother from the Philadelphia area,” Reid said. “Her dad is a huge football fan, so we hit it off right away.”

He praised how Swift has handled her fame, calling her “arguably the most famous woman in the world — at least since Queen Elizabeth II passed away.” Reid added, “She sure handles it the right way, and that’s the part I appreciate the most.”

As Kelce and Swift head into their third NFL season together, Reid has enjoyed watching their relationship unfold since those first dating rumors in September 2023. “I think it’s great,” he said. “Women and girls are looking at the game a little bit more. Look at flag football — it’s becoming an Olympic sport, it’s growing in colleges… Girls are getting the opportunity to play, and they’re loving it.”

While he stopped short of giving Swift full credit, Reid acknowledged her influence. “Not that it’s all tied to her, but she had a big part in that, and the NFL has supported it. I think it’s a beautiful thing all around.”

Reid emphasized that the couple’s high-profile romance hasn’t distracted from Kelce’s performance. “The thing I appreciate most is how they handle it. They’re not a distraction by any means — absolutely not — because of how they go about it.”

Since the 2025 Super Bowl, Kelce and Swift have been enjoying the offseason together, with the tight end recently sharing photos of them on Instagram for the first time. A source told PEOPLE the post “wasn’t random.”

“It was intentional,” the source explained. “They’ve been private in their own way, but this was his way of showing how serious things have become. They’re in a really solid place — and more in sync than ever, both on and off the field.”
