A cheetah diet largely consists of small to medium-sized antelope such as springbok, impala, gazelle, kudu, blesbok etc. The bigger the cheetah or group size, the bigger the prey they may take. Some will even take down more challenging prey like young giraffe and adult ostrich.
They are not scavengers and won’t eat old or rotting meat. They have more sensitive stomach compared to other apex predators like lion, leopard and hyena, so they must eat fresh meat. The fresher the better!
