Just when the champagne bubbles were settling in Los Angeles, another storm was brewing up north in Toronto.
Sources close to the Blue Jays clubhouse say manager John Schneider is furious — and it all started with a late-night call from Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts after L.A.’s World Series triumph.

According to insiders, Roberts — still in a celebratory haze after guiding the Dodgers to glory — reportedly phoned Schneider to “thank” him for the Jays’ role in “making the Dodgers tougher” after their tense interleague series earlier in the season.

But Schneider didn’t take it that way.
“He felt mocked,” one source told TMZ Sports. “It was like Roberts was rubbing it in — talking about how the Dodgers learned how to ‘close games properly’ after watching the Jays blow their leads.”
Witnesses say Schneider slammed the phone down, muttering, “You don’t call me to gloat. Not after that.”
The tension didn’t stop there — word spread fast through baseball circles, and several Blue Jays players reportedly sided with their manager. “Schneider’s a competitor,” said one insider. “He bleeds for his guys. That call was tone-deaf.”
Meanwhile, Roberts — ever the diplomat — brushed off the situation in post-victory interviews, saying only:
“I’ve got a lot of respect for John and that organization. Maybe it was just bad timing.”
Bad timing or not, the damage is done. Baseball’s offseason hasn’t even started, and the rivalry between the Dodgers and Blue Jays — teams in different leagues — might just have found new life.
And as one AL executive told us bluntly:
“If those two meet again next year… buckle up. It’s gonna be personal.” 💣💥
