A quiet walk through the forest turned into an unforgettable encounter when an Estonian soldier found himself being approached by a frightened baby moose looking for comfort.
Erich, a member of the Estonian Defense Forces, had briefly wandered away from his group when he heard strange, sorrowful sounds coming from somewhere in the woods. At first, the noises reminded him of a crying kitten or a small baby—something that seemed completely out of place in such a remote area.
Then an animal emerged from the trees.
Erich initially thought he was looking at a dog. But as the young animal came closer, he realized it was actually a baby moose.
The tiny calf remained cautious at first, keeping some distance from the soldier. But after watching him for a while, it apparently decided that Erich was not a threat.
The calf slowly approached until it was just inches away. Then it began nuzzling against the soldier, seemingly searching for comfort—and even appeared to try to nurse from him.
