Hunter was taken to The Farm Inn Hotel and Wildlife Sanctuary in Pretoria, South Africa, after his mother began behaving aggressively toward him. At only a few months old, the separation was difficult for the young tiger, who suddenly had to grow up without his mother beside him.

Then Chelsea entered his life.

The four-month-old puppy quickly formed a close bond with Hunter. According to keeper Anthea Michaletos, the two seemed to genuinely enjoy spending time together, and their unusual friendship gave Hunter something he desperately needed: companionship.
