With broken legs and trembling eyes, he lay in silence, guarding his tiny friends as if their safety was all he had left.

In April of last year, a woman named Chrissy Beckles was taking a leisurely stroll along a beach in Puerto Rico with her coworkers when something suspicious suddenly stopped them.

“It was a very sad scene. They were literally sitting and resting in a pile of trash. There was no food, no water to drink , and it was an extremely hot day ,” said Chrissy, president and founder of the Sato Project , an organization that rescues dogs from the streets of Puerto Rico.

The three puppies found abandoned there appeared to be the same age, but one of them, named Maximus, was larger than the others and did not appear to be a brother in that litter because he did not physically resemble any of them.

The worrying thing was that Maximus was in desperate need of help . Chrissy watched him move back and forth and noticed something was wrong with his hind legs.

She and her team rushed Maximus and all the puppies to the vet. When they took X-rays, they realized the severity of the older brother’s injuries .

No one knows exactly what happened to Maximus, but Chrissy suspects he was hit by a car, which directly affected his legs . However, the vet was optimistic about the possibility of saving his limbs. The rescue team agreed to put casts on his legs to allow the bones to heal, and he received weekly checkups. After five weeks, he was able to walk again.

“Right now, he weighs about 15 kilos and is very beautiful. He seems truly happy. His rehabilitation has been a wonderful miracle for all of us.”

Since leaving the veterinary clinic, Maximus has been living in a puppy orphanage, and will soon travel to the United States to reunite with his future family.

This boy is very lucky to have found such kind people who were willing to help him no matter what. Would you like to help this organization continue to do this for other abandoned dogs in need? here . You can make your donation
