They thought they were just insect bites, but the puppy’s wounds told a heartbreaking story of cruelty and survival.

A woman named Hayden Howard in the US saw that after playing in the backyard her puppy had multiple skin injuries that appeared to be insect bites. But when they saw him closely they looked like holes, he took it to the vet immediately and the response was terrifying.

Jackson hadn’t been playing with bugs, he had received multiple pellet impacts. Hayden didn’t know what to think, she was confused and overwhelmed, how could anyone do that to a puppy under a year of age, affectionate and playful?

At least 27 balines were removed from his skin, 20 others could not be removed and about 20 holes indicated that they bounced but did not enter his body, i.e. he received more than 60 impacts.

“I didn’t know what to think when I saw that the medical team came out with a container full of pellets who had been inside my puppy, I had under his eyelids, in his ears and on his knees, I was completely terrified that this happened while playing in the yard of our house,” Hayden said.

After a warrant, they were able to search Tom Woodward’s home, and found a gun and balines similar to those found on Jackson’s body and police took him in custody, he had previously been arrested for drug problems but never for animal abuse. Hayden, for his part, says, “my neighbors had always behaved well with Jackson, even his daughter walks with him, I don’t know what to believe about all this.”

They’re still waiting for a lab test that determines with certainty that the gun that fired Jackson is the same found at Tom’s house.

It’s a situation no innocent animal should live on.

As they finish solving the case for justice, Jackson recovers from such a cruel event, is under a treatment in which he must take medication, fortunately he receives the necessary care from his owner, we hope that he will soon be fully recovered and be the happy and affectionate dog he was again.
