The Northrop Grumman X-47B is an unmanned combat aerial demonstration vehicle (UCAV) designed for carrier-based operations. Developed by American defense technology company Northrop Grumman, the X-47 project began as part of DARPA’s J-UCAS program, and later became part of the United States Navy’s Unmanned Combat Air System Demonstration (UCAS-D) program. The X-47B is a tailless jet-powered mixed-body wing aircraft capable of semi-autonomous operations and aerial refueling. The X-47B first flew in 2011, and in 2015, its two active demonstrators underwent extensive operational and flight integration testing, having successfully conducted a series of ground-based and carrier-based demonstrations. In August 2014, the US Navy announced that it had integrated the X-47B into carrier operations alongside manned aircraft, and in May 2015 the main test program was declared complete.
The X-47B Demonstrator itself was meant to be a museum exhibit after completing flight testing, but the Navy later decided to keep it. they are in flying condition pending further development. hello all daily military youtube friends, hereby we create a youtube channel called Daily Military here we want to discuss all about or events in the military.
