Talk about flipping the script… predator turned to prey.
Owls are some of the most majestic creatures out there. Often they go unseen as they are mainly nocturnal, and are sneaky to begin with. These cool birds are birds of prey, meaning they hunt for a living. They are opportunistic hunters, meaning they will eat anything they come across and think they can kill.
Owls use speed and their razor sharp talons to attack from above and fly off in a flash with their prey. They have great success doing this, hunting small mammals, rodents and snakes mainly.
Bull snakes are fair-sized snakes reaching up to 6 feet in length. They are constrictors and wrap themselves around their prey and squeeze them to death. These snakes will eat anything they can get a hold of, mainly small rodents and eggs.
Owls typically have the advantage with their power in the surprise attack, but bull snakes have plenty of fight in them. That was shown clearly he as these folks came across the ol’ reverse attack as a bull snake is seen wrapped around an owl that had tried to attack.
The owl struggles but is already done with the snake restricting its movement and ability to use its flight as defense.
Score one for the bull snake…
