A terrified stray Pit Bull freezing on the streets of Detroit is now safe, thanks to the kind workers who found her shivering outside. Rebel Dogs Detroit was tagged in a social media post about the large dog found outside Glasco Corporation. Workers had been trying to secure her without success since discovering her at 5 a.m. She had possibly been outside all night, braving the freezing temperatures.

“The kind workers did everything they could to help, throwing blankets over her to keep her from going hypothermic until we arrived,” Rebel Dogs Detroit wrote in a Facebook post.

“We knew securing her would be a challenge—this 130-pound girl was frozen in fear, growling, and throwing her weight around in a desperate attempt to escape.”

Fortunately, with patience and care, they were able to get her on a catch pole. Getting her into the car, however, was another battle—but they finally managed to get her inside the vehicle.

“Despite her fear, we got her to safety! Now that she’s warm and secure, we can tell she’s still absolutely terrified, but we have a feeling that deep down, she’s just a giant baby waiting to feel safe,” they wrote.

They noted that she appears to be in good health but will continue to assess her. They asked that if the dog is lost, people reach out to them with proof of ownership.

“Otherwise, we will be calling her Gaana, and she will need a foster home once she has had time to decompress,” they wrote.
