Rescuer Risks Getting Bit To Save Hungry Pittie

If you’re like me, it’s hard to see a homeless animal without wanting to intervene and help. However, sometimes the best of intentions might not be the best course of action.

For example, if you want to catch a stray dog, it’s probably a good idea not to grab it by the leg – that might just result in a bite! Luckily, that’s not what happened to Eldad Hagar with Hope for Paws when called out to a rescue.

It all started when Hope for Paws received an urgent message from LA Animal Rescue regarding a female pit bull that was spotted hanging out in a local junkyard.

It was clear that the dog was a stray and desperately needed help. And so, Eldad set off to get the dog. He linked up with Brandi Alcantar, who had been feeding the stray pit bull. However, she had been unable to get a leash onto the dog as she was quite scared.

It was clearly going to be a waiting game, so they settled in to hopefully get the dog – who they’d named Karina – to feel comfortable around them.

They began feeding her pieces of cheeseburger, and it seemed to be helping to break the ice. Eldad then tried to get close to Karina to leash her up, but he made a big mistake which he then shared in the video is a move one should NEVER do.

Eldad reached out and grabbed Karina’s front leg in an attempt to pull her closer so that he could get the leash around her. It was dangerous as it could’ve resulted in a bite. Luckily for Eldad, Karina seemed too hungry to be upset, and after breaking free, she came back for more food.

Eventually, they were able to get the leash on her and transport her to their rescue. While receiving medical care, it would be revealed that Karina was suffering from heartworm. But, she was treated for it. It turned out that she was quite the sweet and caring dog as she seemed to take well to a kitten being placed atop her head. How cute!
