A rescued dog from Pennsylvania posted an emotional farewell message asking neighbors to join him for his final walk as he battles terminal cancer.

Mellow the dog was recently diagnosed with lymphoma, and his regular walks around the neighborhood with his owner, Kevin Curry, are becoming increasingly difficult.

With his cancer in its terminal stages, Curry decided that for one last walk through his Dupont, Pennsylvania, neighborhood, he would ask his neighbors to come out and pay their respects.

Last Saturday, Curry decided to place a sign titled “Mellow’s Last Walk Through Dupont” on the doors of neighbors he frequently passed on his walks, asking them to come outside.

Next to the notice was a detailed map showing the route Mellow and Curry would take, and it was written as if Mellow had made it himself, saying “thanks for making my life so good.”

In a notice shared with neighbors by Curry from Mellow’s perspective, he wrote: ‘Thank you for making my life so good.’

Neighbour KJ Warunek told the New York Post: ‘It’s a heartbreaking and touching story.

“There were at least 25 people [on the first block]. When I looked over to the next block, there were another 20. I’d say that’s how the whole walk went.”

Speaking to The Citizens Voice, Curry said, “I got Mellow seven years ago and sadly last month he was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

A neighbor said he believed about 25 people had arrived to say goodbye to Mellow.

At her request, neighbors petted Mellow as she took her final walk through the neighborhood.

Mellow and Curry walked around the neighborhood twice a day and met many local people.

“I’ve definitely slowed down over the years and unfortunately that’s why you’re receiving this letter.

Curry rescued Mellow seven years ago and they had been taking her walks twice a day for the past three years.

Mellow and Curry are pictured on their last walk together through the Dupont neighborhood.

“Come out and pat me on the head or rub my belly and I’ll be forever grateful (after all, I love people).
