Southampton may be heading down to the Championship, but they’re not going quietly.
After grinding out a soul-sapping 0-0 draw against a misfiring Manchester City at St. Mary’s, the already-relegated Saints dodged the ultimate Premier League shame: being worse than Derby County 2007-08.
After the game though, Ruben Dias, clearly not thrilled to have spent 90 minutes trying to break down a metaphorical brick wall, told Sky Sports: “They don’t even try to play… just wasting time… I don’t even feel like they want to win.”
To which Southampton cheekily fired back on X (Twitter): “A point without even trying to play 😉”
They didn’t stop there – Southampton uploaded a video of Ruben’s most-match comments with a montage of Man City’s misfiring moments against, well, a relegated side.
