Raul Asencio could not hold back his emotions as he was substituted during Real Madrid’s 2-1 loss to Arsenal in second leg of the Champions League quarterfinal.
The Spaniard had a tough outing at the Santiago Bernabeu, conceding a penalty in the first half that was eventually saved by Thibaut Courtois.
Carlo Ancelotti decided to take off the young defender around the 74th minute and replace him with Luka Modric, as his side was in desperate need of goals.
Asencio was absolutely devastated at the time of his substitution. This wasn’t because he was being taken off, but he realized that his side were on their way out of the Champions League.
The Spaniard almost started crying as he was going off, before being supported by teammates and Ancelotti asking him to chin up.
