A sad story was experienced by the Howard County Animal team when a man, who found by chance the little dog of barely ten weeks of age, begged in a very low tone for someone to help him in the area where he was abandoned.
EThe puppy was found inside a plastic trash bin in a grassy area near a residential neighborhood on Braeburn Road. The man called 911 saying he found an “emaciated” dog in a plastic box in the bin, and the caller says the box was not there the day before.
The puppy was missing skin in some areas, had open sores and was in a state of malnutrition. The photos prove it and it breaks our hearts. The vets at the clinic really didn’t think he would survive as he was in such bad shape that he couldn’t stand up or even move.
The little dog was named Eddy as he waited for his first appointment with the vet. Eddy is an American pitbull terrier and thankfully the medical reports show that Eddy has responded to the treatments and has started to improve.
In the first few days, Eddy did not stay at the shelter at night, but was taken to a foster home due to his delicate condition. But the staff’s efforts have paid off and the little pup is feeling better every day.
Despite everything he has been through, Eddy has been recovering very quickly and it is clear that he feels much better in his state of mind. He is already making friends and having a lot of fun at the shelter.
Howard County police are trying to identify the owner of an abandoned puppy and anyone with information about the puppy is urged to call Animal Control at 410.313.2780 and email: [email protected].
Let’s hope that those responsible for this animal cruelty are found and pay for their actions, because it is not right that small animals (or people in other cases) suffer because of other heartless animals.
Justice is the best punishment for these people and let us pray that every day our world becomes a better place, with fewer people like these who only harm innocent beings.
Little Eddy has made a great recovery and looks much healthier. It is almost a miracle after all he has suffered and the little hope of life he had.
Eddy is currently available for adoption at Howard County Animal Control and Adoption Center, you can contact them if you are interested in adopting him or pass this information on to anyone you think might be interested in adopting him.
We look forward to Eddy finding a family and a forever home after everything he has been through.
