Poland signs $700million howitzer Deal Tuesday with Ukraine

Poland on Tuesday announced a record deal to sell to Ukraine self-propelled howitzers “Crab” made by local manufacturer Futa Starova Wola.

 

In what could be the largest export order for a Polish defense company, Poland has agreed to sell about 60 of his Krab self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki visited Starowafta, one of his largest arms producers in the country, where Poland signed the largest arms deal in his 30 years, worth PLN 3 billion ($700 million). ) confirmed that it plans to ship equivalent weapons to Ukraine.

He said the new weapon would play a very important role on the battlefields of eastern Ukraine.

According to Dziennik.pl, Ukraine has already received 18 of her Krab self-propelled howitzers as part of military aid. The Krab is a self-propelled tracked howitzer armed with a 155 mm gun. It combines a South Korean K9 Thunder chassis and a British AS-90M Braveheart turret with her .52 caliber gun and WB Electronics “Topaz” artillery fire control system.

The Krab’s design is standard for modern self-propelled howitzers, with a cockpit on the left, a power pack on the forward right, and a turret on the rear of the hull. The club howitzer crew is his five. The turret and hull provide protection against fire from pistol and artillery fragments. Combat weight is about 52 tons.

The battery of the Krab artillery system consists of six of her Krab self-propelled howitzers, two of his ammunition resupply vehicles mounted on truck chassis, a Monitor Lizard maintenance vehicle, and her Azalia artillery C3I vehicle. increase.
