Man City organized an important event for Muslim fans during Ramadan – they have been doing this for four years
Man City continue to maintain a special bond with its fans and shows great respect for their religious traditions. Recently, the reigning Premier League champions hosted an important event for their Muslim supporters.
To honour the customs of the holy month of Ramadan, Man City invited over 120 guests to the team’s stadium. This marks the fourth consecutive year that City has organized an Iftar (the evening meal to break the fast) for their fans.
The event began with the recitation of the Quran and speeches from Manchester City representatives within the Muslim community, discussing the club’s efforts to create an inclusive environment for the community.
As dusk fell, the holy call to prayer was heard, followed by the distribution of dates and water for breaking the fast. At sunset, the guests were treated to a luxurious buffet featuring a selection of South Korean dishes.
The chaplain of Manchester University and Manchester Metropolitan University, Mohammed Ullah, positively commented on Man City’s actions: “Our fourth Iftar was a wonderful event that brought together faith, football, and the community. I am proud that the partnership with the club is a powerful example and an inspiration for others.”
“I am deeply grateful to the club for its dedication, constant support of its fans, and for listening to what is important to us,” he continued.
“Their focus on inclusivity fosters a sense of belonging, ensuring that all fans feel welcome – this is an incredibly important effort that we truly appreciate. It was an amazing night of unity, driven by their exceptional commitment,” he concluded.
It’s worth remembering that City is not the only club in Manchester that clearly understands the religious needs of its fans. This year, Manchester United also joined in by opening a prayer room at Old Trafford.
