Former Manchester City striker and current ambassador for Stake, Sergio Aguero, lost $500,000 after placing a bet on his former team during their Premier League derby against Manchester United on Sunday.

The Argentine, who retired in 2021 due to a heart issue while at FC Barcelona, shared a screenshot on Instagram of a bet he placed at Stake. Aguero wagered $500,000 on an Asian Total of over 3.75 goals, with odds set at 3.05.
For Aguero’s bet to win, at least five goals needed to be scored in the match, or four for a partial win. Ultimately, the match ended goalless, resulting in a $5,000 loss for Aguero— the Premier League’s joint-fifth all-time top scorer with 184 goals, a position recently shared with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
