Unfortunately, we continue to witness stories of unjustified indifference and contempt on the part of human beings towards the weakest animals, cases that shame us as a species and cause us a sorrow that eats away at the depths of our soul.
Lada is a sweet little dog, who unfortunately fell into the worst possible hands. Her caretaker, if that is the term, was a soulless woman, without even the slightest hint of humanity, who confined her without food for 5 years that seemed like an eternity.
The incident happened in Ukraine, but the sad thing is to think that it could have happened anywhere else in the world. The images spoke for themselves: the 5-year-old furry animal had never known anything other than confinement and the suffocating chain around her neck that was never removed in her life.
However, the neighbor constantly came to the dog’s house to give her a couple of pieces of bread, which was the little food she could afford; the poor dog gobbled them up desperately, without even chewing them.
And so it was. The next day, late at night, some members of the channel showed up at the dog’s home and, after some negotiation, managed to convince the ignoble woman to hand them over, pressuring her with the possible legal process she would be exposed to if she refused to do so.
This is how the innocent canine was finally able to escape from that hostile environment, but the most impressive thing was to see her reaction when she realized the presence of her rescuers. She raised her head to look at them, as if understanding why they were there and thanking them for their rescue by looking at them sweetly.
After a couple of caresses and removing her chain, Lada was taken to a veterinary hospital where the worst was confirmed: she had a skin infection caused by the fleas that had eaten away at her and deteriorated her during so many years of misery.
“The little one has to stay in the clinic for another month, since her case requires constant treatment and she still has to stabilize her weight,” said the veterinarian in charge.
