A dog paralyzed in fear now walks with confidence after learning what love is.
Bruno the Pit Bull was so scared after being rescued from a terrible situation that he refused to move and had to be pulled around with a blanket. So when Angela of @deservingdogs came to get him to take him home to foster she literally had to drag him to her car.
Angela knew she had to take it really slow with Bruno if he was going to overcome his fear. She helped unlock his frozen body by trying to establish trust and by giving him the love he had never known.
In the beginning, Bruno would cower in fear with every human interaction. His tail remained tucked tightly tucked under him and he crouched down whenever someone approached. Bruno just didn’t know how to behave around people.
Thankfully, food turned out to be a big motivation for him and he began to take treats from Angela. Bruno made small improvements every day until one day his tail began to wag and he grew more curious about the world around him.
I Stand With My Pack, the animal organization that rescued him, also made sure to give Bruno the medical care he needed while he recovered and rehabilitated under Angela’s loving care. They later learned that not only did Bruno suffer fear paralysis but he also had severe arthritis, which also accounted for his reluctance to walk.
During his recovery, Bruno also got frequent visits from Carla and Geoff, a couple who would end up adopting him into their loving home!
“Bruno has been adopted by the most amazing couple and is living a dream,” I Stand With My Pack wrote on Facebook. “It’s truly incredible that this dog, who came from such neglect, will finally have a chance for the most wonderful life. This is what rescue is about!”
