For little Scooter, a small chihuahua, his life changed completely after his owner passed away . The adorable furry boy left the comforts and love of his home to which he had been accustomed for years, to end up in a shelter for homeless animals.
Scooter didn’t seem to have any kind of comfort, he just seemed a little safer by covering his fragile body with a small blue blanket with white stars . The little Chihuahua seemed so helpless and worried about his fate that he hid from those who came to see him at the shelter.
He only showed his tiny sad face and his pointed ears protruding from the small cave that he himself had created . The shelter staff thought that Scooter was a very sweet and handsome dog, but because of his attitude they began to doubt whether he would gain interest from potential adopters.
Jan Nageldiner, manager of the Humane Society of Branch County , a shelter that prohibits euthanasia of animals in Michigan, commented that Scooter would possibly have to spend the rest of his life in the shelter, fortunately they have the space and would never turn him away.
However, they got an incredible surprise after posting a photo of Scooter curled up in his blue blanket. Hundreds of people began to write and contact the organization to get information about the beautiful little dog.
Without thinking , Howard drove more than three hours to reach the shelter where Scooter was , he just wanted to take him home and give him all the attention he needed. Back home she was nervous to see her other dogs’ reaction to seeing a new member of the family.
Howard’s family lives on a farm and they have a total of six dogs of different breeds. Since Scooter arrived at his new home he has shown his true personality, he is very fun and loves to play . Howard comments that little Scooter loves to nap and has a unique sleeping style.
Scooter’s story went around the world, people from Italy, Puerto Rico, Canada, the United States and many other countries were interested in his adoption .
At the shelter they never imagined that Scooter’s photo would cause such an impact. Without knowing it, he became a symbol of all the older animals that are waiting for a family to fill them with love . Fortunately, it didn’t take long for him to have a new home.
