Earlier in the year, it was reported that Pep Guardiola and his wife of 30 years, Cristina Serra, had gone their separate ways.
However, there could be a ray of sunshine on their estranged love life after Pep travelled to spend three days in Barcelona.
Guardiola travelled to the city to spend time in the family’s mansion in Barcelona during the Easter celebration. According to sources, Serra was there.
Reports earlier suggested that Guardiola’s decision to extend his contract at Manchester City was the tipping point for the couple, driving them to start divorce proceedings.
Guardiola’s wife, Serra, left Manchester in 2019 to focus on her business while taking their youngest child with her.
The former Barca boss was expected to leave Man City five years later and return to Spain or take up a national team job, but instead, he renewed for another two years with Man City. Serra couldn’t stand that, and the couple went to divorce court.
However, it seems like the couple aren’t really keen on throwing away their 30-year love relationship as they both continue to wear their wedding bands, and still meet in their family home.
Sources say Gaurdiola has agreed to visit Barcelona at least once a week to touch base with his family while continuing with his job at City.
A flight from Manchester to Barcelona takes just under 3 hours, so it seems Pep and his wife could make it work.
