The dog was found in very bad condition but never lost hope of being loved
Emerald is a caramel-colored dog who was found wandering the streets of Philadelphia.
The rescue was made possible by some good Samaritans who found the furry animal on the street and kept her safe with a rope so that Outcast Rescue activists could help her.
The dog was immediately given antibiotics and, at just 9 months old, had to undergo 3 surgeries to be able to smile again.
“Her mouth was completely swollen. It’s amazing how sweet, friendly and happy she managed to be despite what she had been through,” Beth said.
Her unwavering strength has prompted other institutions to join in the hunt for the person responsible, including investigators from the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals who fell in love with her incredible personality.
The little furry girl would be immensely happy to have dog siblings to play with.
In addition to making tremendous progress in her own rehabilitation, Emerald has become the unconditional friend and support of many shelter dogs who also suffered many injustices on the streets.
“Emerald has taught us more than we have taught her. She has shown us that forgiveness is possible. Her scars may tell the story of her past, but her wagging tail tells us what her present is like. She has brought so much joy to our home and has even become a big foster sister to many other dogs in need,” Beth said.
Recently, Emerald has entered her unusual story into the competition to win $5,000, which will greatly help the animals in need at Outcast Rescue. Without a doubt, there is no one better than her to win the prize for tenacity and willpower.
Emerald’s story is incredibly inspiring, please keep encouraging adoption and fighting for a fairer world for animals!
