During the December holidays, we all long for a present that makes us happy. We go out of our way to set goals for the start of the year, which often don’t last until the first weeks of January.
For some people, this extra-enthusiastic but brief surge of enthusiasm also extends to their desire to have a pet no matter what, regardless of whether they will actually be able to take care of such an animal.
This was precisely the reality that the Stray Rescue of St. Louis pet shelter, located in the city of St. Louis, United States, found itself in. The volunteers received a call from a truck driver, who told them that he had found a small box with three small dogs on the side of the road.
When they saw the scene, it took a while for the rescuers to confirm the information provided by the bus driver. Unfortunately, however, they realized that they were indeed three newborn fur babies who had been left there in very poor conditions by someone who quickly grew tired of them.
Given the seriousness of the situation in which the animals were found, the rescue staff quickly transferred them to the shelter. Once they were safely secured, they were fed appropriately with a bottle.
“They were in very bad condition. We discovered that they had open wounds, which were infected in some cases. This could mean that they were suffering from other health problems,” the veterinarians added.
