Carlo Ancelotti is set to stand trial on Wednesday, 2 April, over allegations of tax fraud. The Real Madrid manager is accused of failing to declare €1,062,079 in earnings to Spanish authorities in 2014 and 2015, according to Mundo Deportivo.
According to the prosecution, Ancelotti hid income from his image rights by claiming they were transferred to other entities. “This was a fictitious arrangement,” the public prosecutor stated.
The Spanish tax agency has already seized €1,217,958.24 from Ancelotti, covering the unpaid amount plus penalties and interest. Despite this, the prosecution is pushing for a four-year, nine-month prison sentence.
The trial will take place at the Provincial Court of Madrid. Ancelotti has not publicly commented on the case, and it remains to be seen how his legal team will respond in court.
