Atlantis sank into the sea in a single day and night around 9,000 years before…

There have been several sites considered as a possible location of the lost continent of Atlantis. These include, the island of Santorini, several locations in Spain, the island of Bermuda and even the Azores are considered as potential locations for the mythical lost Atlantis.

Plato states that Atlantis lay to the west of the pillars of Hercules (Gibraltar) in the great ocean that made the Mediterranean seem as a lake. That the continent was larger than Asia and Libya combined. Which to Plato “Asia” meant Asia Minor.

He wrote that Atlantis sank into the sea in a single day and night around 9,000 years before his time. Plato also stated that this information was passed on to his uncle Solon by the Egyptian priests of Sais.

Most archeologists and so-called rational people believe that Plato’s tale was a fantasy the Greek philosopher created to illustrate a political fable. That his timeline of 9,000 years was actually a transcribed mathematical error and actually meant 900 years. That there is no evidence of any advanced cultures existing 90 centuries before Plato’s time.

However, the recent discovery and excavations at Gobekli Tepe, Turkey place this advanced culture at precisely the same time as Atlantis. So assumptions about the timeline are now incorrect.

The lost continent has, so far, not been located.

Mainly because everything about Plato’s tale may have been true and Atlantis did sink deep to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean in a single day and night. All in a mysterious area called the Sargasso Sea around 11,000 years ago. That in those intervening 11,000+ years seafloor spreading and mudflow have now covered its remains with several feet of detritus.

It lies there still…silently, patiently awaiting re-discovery of its’ fabulous treasures
