Xabi Alonso will eventually become Real Madrid’s head coach. If not next season, then it will be the season after, Fabrizio Romano says on his daily briefing.
“I think we’re seeing Real Madrid links with Zubimendi because Xabi Alonso is a big fan of the player. And Xabi eventually will be Real Madrid’s coach, so that could be a possibility. At this stage, Arsenal are still working on the deal,” Romano says.
Real Madrid have absolutely no plans to sack Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian has a contract until the summer of 2026, which the club intends to honour.
However, Real Madrid are thinking of life after Ancelotti with Alonso and Zinedine Zidane the likeliest candidates to replace.
Real Madrid have been immensely successful since Ancelotti returned for his second spell, winning La Liga twice, the Champions League twice, the Club World Cup and UEFA Super League twice.
