The name Prohodna itself translates to “through cave” or “passage cave,” reflecting its dual entrances at opposite ends. However, it’s also known as the “Eyes of God” because sunlight streaming through the two openings creates the impression of large eyes gazing at visitors.
At night, looking up from inside the cave, moonlight shining through the openings creates a mystical scene.
Yet, these eyes are sometimes likened to “devil’s eyes” due to the eerie appearance in nighttime photographs.
