Welcome back to the our channel for a feature on the Airbus A400M and the F-22 Raptor, two aircraft with unique takeoff styles. “The cockpit is located at the front of the fuselage , as the most of the aircraft’s space is saved for carrying cargo.” Okay, what plane has the cockpit in the tail or the middle then I think it’s at the front for the same reason as every other plane.
The A400 was never intended for verticle capability. It was designed to have short field takeoff and landing. It is a very capable aircraft. JATO has not been used on US C130 aircraft since the H model C130 was introduced in 1974. The H model -15 engines create the same power as the E models -7 engined aircraft with JATO. However, there are a few special models that still use JATO, but they are few and highly specialized. There is a difference between VTOL(vertical take off and landing) and STOL(short take off and landing).
The STOL feature is mostly used when the aircraft is also to take off and land on makeshift airfields, as these do not have the necessary runway length.
