Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies is on the verge of signing a contract extension with the German club, bringing an end to speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid.
The 24-year-old Canadian international had been out of contract next June, prompting interest from Real Madrid, who had been monitoring his situation for over a year.
However, Davies’ representative, Nedal Househ, has been negotiating a new deal with Bayern Munich, and an agreement is expected to be finalized in the coming hours.
According to reports, Davies’ new contract will run until 2030 and will see him earn a salary of 15 million euros gross per year.
The deal will bring an end to speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid, who had been keen to sign him.
Real Madrid had been interested in signing Davies, but the club’s hierarchy was reportedly put off by the player’s agent, who was seen as being too demanding.
The Spanish club had also been unwilling to meet Bayern Munich’s valuation of the player, which was reportedly close to 50 million euros.
With Davies now set to stay at Bayern Munich, Real Madrid will have to look elsewhere to strengthen their left-back position.
The club already has Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia on their books, and could also consider bringing back Miguel Gutierrez from his loan spell.
