Against All Odds: Woman Refuses to Give Up on Her Paralyzed Rabbit, Proving Love and Hope Can Work Miracles

Melanie James was informed by her veterinarians to put Bertha down, but not wanting to give up on her pet, James chose to attempt something she had actually seen work for canines before.

The dedicated pet owner created a specially-designed wheelchair to provide her a new lease on life.

James, that adopted Bertha as a baby four years earlier, said: “When the vet said the nicest thing to do would be to place her down, she still had a lot life.

“I’ve in fact seen dogs in wheelchairs and I thought ‘if it works for a canine, then why not a rabbit?’”.

Bertha has actually adapted well to the device and rolls through the garden and house. James is confident that Bertha’s condition is improving.

“Hopefully, within the not-too-distant future, she will regain movement herself,” James said. “The veterinarian and myself can’t think just how well the chair’s actually working.”.
