MARCA reports that Real Madrid have turned their attention to Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha as they search for a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos, whose departure has left a significant gap in the club’s midfield.
The 25-year-old Portuguese international is viewed internally at Madrid as the closest stylistic match to Kroos currently available in Europe. Though Vitinha is under contract at PSG until 2029 and would command a high fee, club sources see him as the most complete midfielder among the options being considered.

Vitinha’s profile has attracted admiration from Madrid’s technical staff, especially for his composure on the ball, ability to dictate tempo, and versatility in advanced and deeper roles. He contributed seven goals this past season, while also showcasing a 93% pass completion rate — nearly identical to the 94% posted by Kroos during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu.

In addition to his technical qualities, Vitinha is recognised for his defensive contribution, particularly his aggression in pressing and intelligence in positioning — attributes that Madrid value highly as they prepare for a tactical shift under incoming manager Xabi Alonso.

Although the signing remains complicated due to PSG’s reluctance to sell and the player’s long-term deal, Madrid see Vitinha as a natural fit to lead the next phase of their midfield rebuild. With Luka Modric also leaving and question marks surrounding other midfielders in the squad, the club believe the Portuguese star could offer both immediate impact and long-term stability.
The final decision will depend on negotiations and PSG’s stance, but Vitinha has now emerged as one of the top midfield priorities for Real Madrid this summer.
