The indifference of many people is the cruelest disease that can exist in the world and some creatures are constantly victims of this to the point of feeling the harshest failure.

Sadly, this is well known to Lucky, a little dog who has been waiting for a family in a Californian shelter for more than 3 years but no one is interested in him due to his blindness.

At least the former owner had a modicum of good will and did not leave him on the street but instead handed him over to the shelter, but this would be the first of many rejections that Lucky has endured.

Since the creature is in the Crescent City kennel, in California, various families have passed indifferently in front of its cage. Some people are encouraged to pet him and give him a smile but in the end they end up choosing a healthy dog to accompany them home.

Unlike the visitors, the local volunteers do recognize the great value of this little dog who is blind in one eye and they love him very much.

“He is very intelligent, kind and strong, and will definitely make his home and his humans feel protected. He loves to snuggle and his favorite activity is convincing his favorite people to give him all the cuddles,” said Brittany Pratt, agricultural animal care technician at Del Norte Animal Control.

Lucky lost the vision in his right eye due to an injury he suffered when he was just a puppy. Despite this, the dog was characterized by his great optimism and empathy, but in the last 6 months the poor guy has undergone a total change.

“In the last six months, we’ve seen it start to close. “He’s not as happy in the morning when we come to see him, and he’s starting to lose a little weight,” Pratt said.

Lucky has been at the shelter for 1,068 days waiting for someone to adopt him, for that reason his caregivers started a campaign to find a beautiful family for him as soon as possible.
