A dog can bring so much happiness to our lives that sometimes it is incredible how some people can be so cruel to these helpless creatures. Despite everything, dog abandonment, abuse and neglect continue to occur every day.
Before taking him to the New York animal shelter, these two friendly girls wrapped the dog in warm blankets. With this, they showed that there are still people who have a big heart and are always willing to help those who need it most.
In addition to the emaciation, “veterinarians determined that some of the numerous wounds on his skin clearly indicated that he had been abused, which was consistent with cigarette burns.” Animal Haven wrote in their Facebook post: “On top of everything, Timmy was also diagnosed with pneumonia.”
Timmy spent 36 days in the hospital before he was ready to be discharged. Although he still has a long road ahead to fully recover, he has taken a decisive first step. After being discharged, Timmy returned to the shelter, where the staff welcomed him with open arms. However, he did not stay there long.
After several weeks with his foster mother, Timmy finally received the best news: he officially became a “foster failure.”
“After three weeks of receiving him, I couldn’t imagine at that moment putting him back in his place and having him adopted by someone else,” Alison said. “I thought, ‘Well, that makes sense. This works.’”
On the day of the adoption, Alison decided to visit the place where it all began. When I took Timmy to Animal Haven headquarters, the staff was delighted to see him again.
