South Africa, located at the southernmost tip of the African continent, is known as a treasure trove of wild flora and fauna.
The climate is warm throughout the year, and many people may imagine scenes of wild animals running across grasslands basking in the bright sun.
However, this seems to happen sometimes.
On September 8th, heavy snow fell in parts of South Africa, and an extremely rare sight of a giraffe standing in the snow was seen.
This is the first time in 10 years that snow has fallen in this part of South Africa, and the second time this year that snow has fallen in this part of South Africa, having fallen in early July.
The forecast was for light snow to fall in the southern highlands of the Northern Cape, and heavy snow in Victoria West and Richmond, and it turned out to be just that.
Although it has snowed in South Africa before, it is still unusual. What’s more, it’s refreshing to see a giraffe buried in snow.
There were also many other snowy scenes posted on social media that were uncharacteristic of South Africa.
Is this South Africa?
