Jayme Harley and her partner, Aaron Peters, had been thinking about opening their home to a new dog for a while. They already had a beautiful rescued pitbull at home but Jayme thought they still had a lot of love to give and it would be nice to help another furry friend.
Aaron wasn’t entirely convinced, but one day he went to work and came across something that touched him. At a gas station there was a pitbull whose health was clearly deteriorating. It was obvious that the poor guy was having a hard time living on the streets and someone had to do something.
Aaron is a FedEx delivery driver. He had a very busy schedule that day and couldn’t stop to meet the dog. However, before continuing, he took a photo and sent it to Jayme to tell her that this was the furry one they had been waiting for. Jayme was in shock when she received the message.
After all, Aaron wasn’t entirely sure about getting a new pet, but the pitbull in distress convinced him. She knew she couldn’t just sit back and do nothing, so she asked her husband to pick up the little dog as soon as possible. Jayme drove to the gas station and after a few minutes she won the little furry friend’s trust.
A neighbor explained to the young woman the dog’s dark past. Apparently, someone had taken him out of a car and never came back for him. Several people had tried to help him, but when they realized he was a pitbull, they preferred to just leave him there. Luckily, Aaron and Jayme had another rescue of this breed and they knew perfectly well that the stereotypes surrounding them are very unfair and false.
