It is impossible not to feel sadness in our hearts when we hear the story of this little dog that was abandoned in a bag inside a garbage container. That is what the heartless person who was capable of doing this thought: a piece of trash.
It is a question that we ask ourselves over and over again without finding an answer that allows us to understand why these little animals are plunged into pain because of the action of a human being who has no respect for life.
Nathan Binnie, a garbage collector from New Stanton, was doing his job at the Yellow Pine Lane housing estate.
Nathan followed his instinct and broke his habit of not looking inside the garbage bins, but something caught his eye and he looked inside one of them.
She couldn’t believe what was happening! She found a small, innocent dog inside a garbage bag.
She was shaking, malnourished, dehydrated, she was just skin and bones!
Nathan immediately called his dispatcher, letting them know what was going on and that he needed help. While waiting for help to arrive, he gave this poor dog his lunch without hesitation. What a hero!
Westmoreland County SPCA officers arrived on scene to rescue the dog.
This beautiful dog had been adopted a few months ago from a shelter in Fayette County.
The former owner was identified, her name is Nicole, who admitted that she had left the dog inside a garbage bag, and the bag in turn inside a garbage can before moving to her boyfriend’s house to spend a few days there.
What kind of human being is that? What kind of feelings can a person have that would do that?
Police officer Jan Dillo said that although he did not agree, it was better to let her go, so she would surely get food and something to drink.
The messages were lies to the people who were in charge of taking care of Mia, as she called her. Even though she knew what she did was wrong, she placed her pet inside a garbage bag and, not in agreement, inside a container.
The dog is only 10 months old, and when she arrived at the shelter she was named Fawna. She was in critical condition, so much so that it was impossible to draw blood from her for the corresponding tests.
Her weight should have been around 23 kilos and she only weighed 8 kilos.
After several days of treatment Fawna is slowly recovering. She has gained weight and we have received a lot of calls to adopt her. It’s great!
