Pitbull who launched machete attack was reunited with his owner long ago
Tommy Boy had suffered a fractured spine and a broken vertebrae, was bleeding from his nose and was in shock and unable to stand. “His head was completely split open to what looked like large matter and his eye was bulging out, part of his tail had been severed,” Miller said. “It looked like movie special effects because it was so clear my mind couldn’t process what I was seeing.”
“A woman attacked Tommy Boy [with a machete] while he was tied up,” Miller said. She believes the attack was related to some “issue” she had with him or his owner. It could have been even worse. According to Miller, a bystander “threw himself” on Tommy Boy to stop the attack.
“When they saw his picture they realized the dog was their Tommy Boy, who had gotten married in 2019,” Miller said. A couple of years ago, Tommy Boy’s owner had abandoned him. When he returned, his beloved dog was gone.
“They immediately reached out to us and provided us with photos of their pup to confirm that it was indeed their dog,” Miller said.
Alina Hauptman of Best Friends Animal Society, an animal welfare program dedicated to ending the story of dogs and cats in US shelters by 2025, told Newsweek, “Tommy Boy’s story is inspiring and uplifting, and it’s also a great example of what No-Kіɩɩ shelters do best: saving every dog or cat in a shelter that can be saved. Community safety and a good quality of life for pets are tenets of the No-Kіɩɩ philosophy, and can be achieved when animal welfare professionals engage in best practices and practices, like this one.”
