A dedicated team at South Essex Wildlife Hospital tried desperately to save the fox’s life by detaching a bottle from it’s head
She said: ‘If it gets away the worst thing [is] knowing you were so close but so far.
When rescuers first arrived at the building site, the fox in a state of panic, fled the scene
The fox attempted to evade capture by throwing it’s slinky body underneath scaffolding gates
Rescuers Charlotte and Sharon finally caught the distressed animal and placed it into a cage
Charlotte and Sharon then placed it into a well-vented animal cage to begin the work of removing the plastic bottle from its head.
It was an emotional sight as the bottle removal gave way to bloodied and matted fur
On site builders cheered the rescuers on for a job ‘well done’
