There are many street dogs that spend years living in front of humans as if they were invisible. Some furry ones are lucky enough to become community pets or even be adopted by a family.
Unfortunately, many are ignored by everyone and face a life full of difficulties. This was the fate of a dog named Helen who had to face the hardships of the streets of Romania.
A tourist who went to a village soon noticed that the dog was living in precarious conditions. She had a cardboard box as her bed, but her look was terribly sad.
The woman spoke to the neighbours to see if the little furry animal had an owner and when she heard her story her heart sank. Helen had spent many years on the streets. She had been injured by several cars and had a hard time finding food.
Fortunately, Helen had found the right person. The tourist did not have the means to help her but decided to contact the rescuers from Howl of a Dog.
She was so scared of humans that it was obvious that she hadn’t had a good time on the streets. However, her life was about to change.
A visit to the vet revealed that her health was really poor. She had many ticks and was diagnosed with canine anaplasmosis.
This caused her joint pain, chills, fever and a lot of discomfort. Fortunately, she had been rescued just in time and began receiving treatment immediately.
Months later, Evelyn Hendrickx and her family opened the doors of their home to show Helen that she deserved a happy life as a pet.
Since then, the dog has spent all day playing with the family’s children and giving kisses of gratitude to all her humans.
