It Took NASA 300 Hours To Make This Mesmerizing 4k Video Of The Sun

It’s always shining, always ablaze with light and energy. In the ubiquity of solar output, Earth swims in an endless tide of particles. Every time half of the Earth faces the Sun, we experience the brightness of daytime, the Sun’s energy and light driving weather, biology and more. This latest video from the NASA Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) is the most detailed of our Sun yet, and it’s completely mesmerizing.

The SDO was created in 2010 to watch the Sun 24 hours a day, seven days a week in order to better understand how it affects our planet. SDO shoots footage of the sun in ten different wavelengths to demonstrate the varying temperatures of solar components. And now, all of these wavelengths have been collected into a single video.

The 30-minute film also includes a special soundtrack by German musician Lars Leonhard; this footage provides a completely different viewpoint on our relationship with the enormous powers of the universe. So sit back and enjoy this enthralling and comprehensive depiction of the massive ball of energy at the centre of our solar system.
