It’s not quite a Thomson’s gazelle, but this cheetah far from his native land has to take what he can get for quick morning snack.
He chased down the luckless rabbit after it burrowed its way into the wrong pasture in Toledo, Spain, emerging slap bang in the middle of a big cat enclosure.
Run rabbit: A cheetah chases down a rabbit who has accidentally found his way into an animal enclosure
Run rabbit: The big cat keeps his eyes trained on the rabbit as it desperately tries to make its escape
Run, run, run: The quick-footed hunter’s muscles are taut and well-defined in the morning sun

Goes the Cheetah’s tum: Cheetah’s Rock is an animal enclosure in Toledo, Spain
Closing in: The cheetah is just feet away from the tiny rabbit, who will make a small but tasty early morning snack
Race of his life: The plucky rabbit hasn’t given up yet, and turns an extra lick of speed as he tries to make his escape
The location of Cheetah’s rock on Spain’s Meseta Central (Inner Plateau) offers both mild springs and autumns, hot summers and short winters – conditions similar to the cheetah’s native countries.
Not giving up: Despite the rabbit’s best efforts, there’s not much chance of outrunning this predator
Famously fast: Cheetahs have a top speed of 75mph, making them the world’s fastest runners
They think it’s all over! Sensing its moment, the hungry cheetah pounces at the rabbit
It is now! The cat is now surely sinking its claws into the flesh of the tiny rabbit, ripping its skin and perhaps snapping its small bones as it lands on the small animal
I’ll take ya! The bunny appears to make one last desperate bid for freedom – either that or it’s bouncing off the ground
Yum: The cheetah settles down for a snack. The whole hunt took just three seconds, said Mr Krueger
