Many people were ecstatic to see a golden retriever swimming with a woodchuck on his back, writes lexnau
Wally, a 2-year-old golden retriever owned by Lauren Lynde, enjoys swimming, so Lynde frequently throws a bat or ball for him to chase. Other times, though, he just dons a shark life vest and swims around by himself.
Early in the summer, the family canoes to one of the islands in Lake Hickory Hills in Lunenburg, Massachusetts, completely unaware that they are about to have an unexpected encounter. Wally was swimming in the lake when suddenly a black item that appeared to be a giant log pounced on his back.
When Lynde finds that it’s a woodchuck, not a log, she is utterly astonished!
They made the assumption that the woodchuck may have been drinking or bathing when it fell into the lake and drifted to this location. Fortunately, it met Wally, who didn’t appear irritated or [sh.oc.ked] when someone perched on his back and simply swam to the shore.
Lynde remarked|: Wally adores whatever animal he meets. He adores kids and gives them a cheek kiss whenever he sees them. He is the most loving dog you have ever met.
Wally seemed to get along well with his new companion, and Woodchuck expressed gratitude to Wally as they arrived at their destination.
Woodchuck got off Wally’s back before they arrived at the shore, and as he ran ashore, they gave each other one last glance and rubbed noses as if saying farewell.
Maybe this unexpected encounter led to a lovely friendship between the friendly Wally and the shy woodchuck!
This is just about the sweetest thing I have ever seen. What a smart and loving dog you have.
