Dog with Half an Ear and Infested with Fleas Regains Faith After Years of Struggling on the Streets. A Dramatic Tale of Suffering and Remarkable Recovery Unfolds

The life of a small dog should be full of happiness, love and a safe roof. But, sadly, many animals do not have a home and are forced to wander aimlessly on the streets, exposing themselves to hunger, cold, thirst and, above all, mistreatment.

Perrita

Meg is a little caramel-colored furry girl who recently appeared on the porch of a house in Texas, United States. The owner of the place could not go past her when he found her: with her fur unkempt, malnourished, with mange and full of fleas.

It was clear that this mysterious dog had spent a lot of time on the streets, at least that was what was reflected in her deep sad eyes that seemed to have lost hope of having a decent life.

The owner of the house posted what happened on Facebook and, miraculously, it didn’t take long for some animal-loving angels to appear, willing to do everything possible to help the furry little girl.

The rescuers from the This is Houston shelter arrived at the house in question to meet Meg and provide her with all their support. As soon as they saw her they knew they needed to act quickly to rid her of all her discomfort and melancholy.

The dog was devastated in every way.

Meg weighed less than 5 kilograms when she was found. She had mange, infections, was missing half an ear and was infested with fleas, making it one of the worst cases the veterinarian who evaluated her has seen.

But, in addition to this, the dog had received an impact on one of her front legs and, being so small, she ended up with a terrible fracture and ran the risk of losing her limb forever.

Meg’s little eyes and heart are sick too

With so much ground to cover, the rescuers decided to begin Meg’s rehabilitation by treating her skin problems. She began taking antibiotics and being under constant monitoring. And, little by little, her body showed encouraging improvements.

Her respiratory rate was restored after a few days of care.

Despite the situation, Meg has been friendly and grateful to all the people who have come to check on her well-being. She has never been treated so lovingly and, although it is something new for her, it is slowly healing her heart.

Her rescuers accompany her every step she takes and fight to make her smile. Her skin has regained its natural shine and she is back to the vet to continue treatment until her health is back to normal.

“She has her whole life ahead of her and we can’t wait to show her that things get better from here,” the shelter said.

Meg’s injured paw cannot be saved and will need to be removed. But, her rescuers trust that this will be the best so that she can have a full life and, without a doubt, she will learn to move because she is a brave canine.

While she goes to her forever home, Meg is filled with love from thousands of Internet users who send her different gifts like the beautiful princess she is; They recently sent her a beautiful prayer blanket for her to stay warm.

“Awww, sweet baby. Prayers for her, that her next surgery goes well and that she recovers soon,” wrote one social media user.

Now Meg has the confidence and security to lie peacefully on the grass or in her bed. She will never again suffer indifference or mistreatment. The worst is over and she has a happy life ahead of her.

Stories like these remind us of the importance of seeing the sorrow of the little animals that live on the streets. You can change their life, don’t ignore them!
