This “gold” is highly sought after in the food industry, despite its price of millions of dong per kilogram.
When it comes to mushrooms, many people will immediately think of black mushrooms and white mushrooms (silver ear mushrooms) – two very popular types of food in Vietnam. However, few people know that there is another type of mushroom, which is yellow in color and priced at over 1 million dong per kilogram. They are also known as “golden mushrooms”.
Like black and white mushrooms, golden mushrooms also grow on tree trunks. Previously, they only grew wіɩd in the forest, mainly distributed in Yunnan province (China). But now Chinese farmers have successfully cultivated golden mushrooms using artificial methods. Cultivating golden mushrooms is very simple, just ensure the proper temperature and humidity. After harvesting, golden mushrooms are dried for easy preservation and transportation. However, this type of mushroom in China is mainly exported to South Korea and some other countries. They are considered as food or medicinal herbs.
To cultivate golden mushrooms, growers need to prepare Japanese oak wood. Then create small holes on the wood, plant mushroom seeds into the holes and pour the solution.
After about 2 months, the mushroom buds will slowly grow oᴜt. During this time, the temperature should be maintained at about 26 – 28 degrees Celsius. The humidity needs to be maintained at around 80%. When the golden mushrooms enter the growth stage, growers need to water them daily.
Previously, golden mushrooms were priced at up to 6.5 million dong per kilogram. Now, thanks to artificial cultivation methods, their price has dгoррed to only about 360 Chinese Yuan per kilogram, equivalent to 1.22 million dong per kilogram (export price).
