💚 CLASS ACT: A former Boston Celtics player, now 72, still quietly cleans and polishes the TD Garden floor every morning — saying that when he hears the echo of the crowd, every pain of age fades away. 🏀✨

In the heart of Boston, before the lights turn on and the fans pour in, an old man with a gentle smile walks onto the TD Garden floor. Few recognize him — but decades ago, Frank “Freddy” Collins wore the same green and white with pride. Once a reserve guard during the late ’70s Celtics era, he now spends his mornings cleaning and polishing the very court where he once chased glory.
He doesn’t do it for the money. He doesn’t do it for attention. He does it for love. “Every time the mop glides across the wood, I remember how it felt to dive for a loose ball, to hear the crowd scream,” Collins says softly. “When I hear that echo — even just in my head — I feel young again.” 💚
Arena staff say he never misses a day, rain or snow. Players sometimes stop to greet him, calling him “Mr. Collins,” not knowing they’re talking to a man who once shared the court with legends.
“You can leave the game,” he says, “but the Garden never leaves you.”
A true Celtic through and through — still serving the team, not for applause, but for the love that never aged. 🍀
